1. Installation
Move or Copy the filter plug-in to your Photoshop filters folder, (re)start Photoshop, then the filter should be available under:
filter --> theimagingfactory --> Color Correction...
2. Preview
This plugin shows the results of its calculations in a preview pane. To better judge the effect of your settings the preview can be zoomed by the zoom-buttons below the preview pane indicated with a "+" (plus) and "-" (minus) symbol. Alternatively you can use the cmd-"+" or cmd-"-" key sequence.
A percentage of scaling is given between the zoom buttons. You can click the percentage text to quickly switch between 100% and best fit. If the preview is larger than the preview pane you can scroll through the preview by clicking the mouse in the previewpane and subsequently draging the preview.
The preview checkbox next to the preview pane allows you to switch between previewing the original data and previewing the filtered data. Mac users can use the ctrl-space key sequence to quickly switch the preview checkbox.
3. Color Patches
The color patches indicate the "source" and "destination" color respectively. The currently active colorpatch is indicated by a thicker frame. The color sliders affect the currently active colorpatch!
You can select a "source" color by clicking the source colorpatch. It becomes active (indicated by a thicker frame) and the color sliders will reflect the color. You can now select the color you want to change, by clicking the preview and adjusting the color sliders.
You can select a "destination" color by clicking the destination colorpatch. It becomes active (indicated by a thicker frame) and the color sliders will reflect the color. You can now select the color you want the source color to be changed to, by clicking the preview and adjusting the color sliders.
4. Color controls
Use the color controls to adjust the "source" and "destination" colors. Which colorpatch is controlled depends on the active colorpatch. The active colorpatch is indicated by the thicker frame. To activate a colorpatch simply click the colorpatch once.
The color controls depend on the image mode:
+ for RGB images the sliders represent the red, green and blue channel of the color patch,
+ for CMYK images the sliders represent the cyan, magenta, yellow and black channel of the color patch
+ for Lab images the sliders represent the Lightness, a and b channels of the color patch
5. Range The range parameter determines the number of colors which will be considered for correction. The larger this value, the more of the surrounding colors will be corrected also. Note that selective color corrections do not necessarily preserve contrast. If you work in RGB try our Chromex I plugin instead.
6. Known issues and incompatibilities
- For the NT family of OSes this plugin requires Windows NT 5.0 or higher!
- The windows versions will occasionally not update its values when first selecting a slider followed by immediate dragging. In this case, briefly release the mouse, then resume dragging.
